Interactions

Within a Kyron Studio course, there are three different types of interactions you will encounter.

1. Assessments

Kyron Studio will generate a summative assessment at the end of each module. The question types found in the assessment can only be generated by our AI, meaning that creators currently do not have the ability to add these questions within a course.

There are two types of interactions that can be found here:

  1. Multiple choice assessment - Learners will be presented with a question and up to four possible answers. With a multiple choice assessment, learners will only have one chance to answer. These questions are not retryable.

  2. Graded assessment conversation - Learners will engage in a conversation with our AI. The AI will provide no guidance towards a correct answer, but may ask follow up questions to determine a learner’s understanding of the topic.

Learners’ responses will be scored on a rubric, and that score will be reported back to instructors in the “Analytics” section. This final score combines points from both the multiple choice assessment and the graded assessment.

  • NOTE: Currently, instructors cannot access the rubric used by our AI. However, our team is actively working on making the rubric available to provide detailed insights into each learner's performance.

2. Multiple Choice Questions (not assessment based)

Use this interaction type to ask a learner a multiple choice question. These are retryable, meaning that if the learner answers incorrectly, they will receive feedback on why their answer is incorrect and have the opportunity to try answering the question again.

  • Note: This is not the same as the multiple choice assessment that is generated in the summative assessment.

Instructors will receive data on learners' responses, including any misconceptions identified based on their answers. This data can be found in the "Analytics" section.

3. AI Conversation Interactions

There are three AI conversation interactions available in a Kyron course: reflective conversations, guided conversations, and assessment conversations. In each a question will appear, followed by a text input field where you can either type your response or use the microphone to speak. Be sure to answer all parts of the question to the best of your ability.

  • In reflective conversations, the AI tutor will ask you to share your thoughts in an open-ended conversation and there is no “right” answer.

  • In guided conversations, the AI tutor will ask follow-up questions until it determines that you have met all of the criteria for a correct answer.

  • In assessment conversations, the AI tutor will ask questions but it will not provide guidance, and your instructors will receive feedback on these assessment responses.

    • NOTE: Assessment conversations are different from the graded assessment that you'll find in the module assessments (this is detailed in the next section). Instructors will NOT receive a graded score for assessment conversations, but can view the students' transcripts to see how they responded.

If learners feel ready to move forward with the course in these AI conversations, they can do so after two responses by clicking on the "I want to jump forward" button located at the bottom right of the screen.

Instructors will receive data on learners' responses, including any misconceptions identified based on their answers. Transcripts of each learners’ interactions can also be found in the “Analytics” section. Simply click on the name of the learner whose transcript you wish to view, and click the “Transcript” tab in the pop up that appears.
