Activity Type - Clarifying Conversation with Image

Clarifying Conversation with Image allows creators to upload images that become a part of the chat interaction. Upon uploading the image, a new answer field will be generated, incorporating elements of the image into the context of the correct response to the question.

  • Note: This activity type works best if you already have an existing image you’d like to use.

During the chat itself, the AI will refer to the image as part of the conversation. Similarly, the learner can ask questions about the image and include aspects of the image into the discussion.

This feature will further support learners by engaging them with a visual element designed to guide them more deeply in exploring the content at hand. It also allows creators the ability to include content that may not lend itself to a purely text description. These visuals can introduce new and important material that previously would not have been part of the learning experience.

Adding A Clarifying Conversation with Image To Your Lesson

1. Click the three vertical dots next to the section, then hover over Add Activity > Conversation > select Clarifying Conversation with Image.

2. Click “Add Activity.”

  • Note: The default is to generate the activity content. If you would like to input your own content, make sure you uncheck the box.

3. Once the activity has been generated, it will appear as the last activity in the section.

  • To reposition the activity, hover over it, then click and hold the six vertical dots. You can then drag the activity to your desired location.

Adding Your Image

In order to publish a lesson that includes a Clarifying Conversation with Image activity, you must upload an image. If an image is missing, you will see the following error message:

1. Scroll to the bottom and upload the image you’d like learners to reference in the “Enhance learning with visual context” section.

2. Click “Upload an image from my computer” and select the appropriate file.

  • NOTE: By default, the correct answer box will change to include information from your image. This cannot be undone.

    • If you do not want our AI to change the contents of your correct answer, make sure to uncheck this box

3. Press “Save” when you are ready.

4. Your selected image will load automatically.

  • You can always replace your image by clicking “Replace image.”

5. If you’d like, you can preview the conversation to see how the image is being used.

Image Guidelines

  • Make sure the image you are uploading has a 16:9 aspect ratio (ex: 1920x1080 pixels).

  • You can upload a variety of different types of images, such as: bar graphs, pie charts, infographics, static images, diagrams, and many more!

  • The image will only become part of the AI conversation if it is relevant to the question.

    • If the image is not relevant, the AI will not refer to the image during the conversation. However, students can still ask questions about the image and the AI will know about it and respond accordingly.
