Instructors - Canvas: Whole-Class Analytics

Kyron Analytics gives instructors an at-a-glance view of student progress across Kyron lessons, directly within Canvas. Use it to quickly identify students who may need additional support and see which concepts may need to be reinforced.

To access Kyron Analytics, select Kyron Analytics from the course navigation menu.

View Whole-Class Progress

The Kyron Analytics view shows completion progress for students across the Kyron lessons in your course. Use this overview to compare student progress, identify students who may be falling behind, and see which lessons may need additional attention.

The table shows each student's completion percentage and the number of activities they have completed for each lesson.

Review Individual Student Insights

Click a student's lesson activity to view more detailed information about their progress, including completion status, start and completion times, and concepts worth revisiting based on their interactions with the lesson.

The Concept Review highlights concepts that may need additional attention based on the student's responses and interactions. Use these insights to identify topics to reinforce or revisit with the student.

Concept Review

Why it's useful

Whole-class analytics help you move from seeing how students are progressing to understanding where they may need support. Use the overview to identify students who may need attention, then review their Concept Review to determine which topics to reinforce.

Canvas Setup

This section is for Canvas administrators. The Course Navigation placement must be configured in your Kyron LTI developer key before Kyron Analytics appears in the course navigation menu.

First-time Kyron LTI setup

If you are setting up Kyron's LTI integration for the first time, no additional action is needed. The JSON configuration URL provided by Kyron already includes the required Course Navigation placement, so it is added automatically when you create the developer key.

Existing Kyron LTI integration

If your institution already has Kyron's LTI integration configured, you must manually add the Course Navigation placement to your existing developer key.

How to Update an Existing Developer Key

  1. In Canvas, go to Admin > Developer Keys.

  2. Find the Kyron Learning developer key and open it for editing.

  3. Scroll to the Placements section. Add the following placements if they aren't already there:

    • Assignment Selection: Allows instructors to select and add Kyron content when creating Canvas assignments.

    • Course Navigation: Adds Kyron Analytics to the course navigation menu so instructors can access whole-class analytics.

  4. Note: You can also add other placements if you'd like to make Kyron available in additional areas of your course.

  5. Expand the Course Navigation section that appears after you add the placement.

  6. Enter the settings shown below.
