Lesson Versioning

What is Lesson Versioning?

Lesson Versioning lets you restore or replace a previously published version of your lesson. If a recent publish introduces a problem, or you simply want to go back to an earlier state, this feature brings the whole lesson back to how it looked at that point in time.

  • Note: Lesson Versioning is not the same as version changes. Version changes tracks the edits made to a lesson. Lesson Versioning is what lets you act on that history — restoring a full, previously published version.

How it works

Every time you publish a lesson, that published state is saved as a version. As you continue editing and republishing, each new publish creates another version in the lesson's history.

With Lesson Versioning, you can restore your lesson to any of those earlier published versions.

Example:

1. You publish your lesson for the first time. This becomes Version 1.

2. You make several changes and republish. This becomes Version 2.

3. If you decide Version 2 isn't working as intended, you can restore the lesson back to Version 1. Simply click Promote.

Important caveat: it's all or nothing

Restoring a version replaces the entire lesson — not just the parts that changed. You cannot selectively restore individual elements (like one activity or one page) while keeping the rest of your current version intact.

Before restoring, make sure you actually want to revert everything in the lesson to that earlier state, since any changes made since the version you're restoring to will be overwritten.
