What is SCORM?

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of technical standards used in e-learning software. It allows content developers to create educational materials that can be shared and reused across different learning management systems (LMS). SCORM defines how to package, launch, and track learning content in a consistent way, enabling interoperability between content and platforms.

You can read more about SCORM here.

Downloading a Kyron Course

1. After creating and finalizing your Kyron course, click "Export Course" in the top right corner.

2. If you need to, generate any missing videos and publish the course.

3. Click Download SCORM.

4. You should see a .zip file downloaded to your computer.

Uploading Kyron SCORM

Many LMSs (Learning Management Systems) allow you to upload a SCORM file into your LMS to show to students. While each LMS operates a bit differently, once you upload the Kyron SCORM it renders a page that shows the course you’ve just created. This will be shown to students, who can start taking your course!

Please note: At the moment, all students using Kyron courses through SCORM will be taking the course anonymously. We look forward to upgrading our SCORM offering in the future.

Using SCORM with Canvas

If you are using Canvas, your Canvas administrator will need to reach out to your Customer Success Manager from Instructure to first enable SCORM on your organization’s account and then enable SCORM in the navigation menu. Once this is enabled, you will be able to follow the steps below:

1. Enter your course

2. Click SCORM from your left navigation menu.

3. Click Upload and select the .zip file you downloaded from Kyron.

4. Choose whether you’d like to import your course as an assignment or page.

5. View your course!
